my interests

My name is Jeff Murphy and I am a student at Marshall University. I love science fiction literature and movies. A friend and I have been attending a 24 hour science fiction movie marathon in Columbus, Ohio for seventeen years. My favorite sci-fi movies are Blade Runner, Alien and The Day the Earth Stood Still ( the version with Patricia Neal - who I happened to meet last year). My favorite sci-fi books are Frank Herbert's Dune, George Orwell's 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Kurt Vonnegat's Slaughterhouse 5 and The Handmaiden's Tale. I also enjoy hiking across the US. A friend of mine from Philly and I are currently hiking the Appalachian Trail. Although we have just started, we plan to continue hiking the AT until we finish the entire 2175 miles of it from Mt Katadyn in Maine to Springer Mt in Georgia. Currently, we have hiked only three small sections in Pennsylvania and Maryland totaling about 140 miles. Finally, I am a HUGE Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan and I mean FANATIC!. I am one of those people that sits and yells at the TV screen during a game. I also have season tickets to the UK basketball games which my wife refuses to go to with me because she says that I embaress her by yelling at the refs.
